A refined Japanese cast bronze vase of elegant crane-neck form, dating to 1959 (Showa 34), accompanied by its original inscribed wooden storage box (tomobako).
The vase is finished in a deep, softly mottled dark patina, lending a quiet richness to the surface. Its gently swelling body is delicately hand-engraved with subtle geometric motifs, reminiscent of stylised waves or celestial lines, introducing a restrained mid-century sensibility to the traditional silhouette.
Balanced and sculptural in its proportions, the piece sits beautifully on its own, equally suited to a single stem or left unadorned as an object.
