Description

A rare antique Japanese bronze vase dating to the 19th century. The sculptural form rises from a rounded base into a tall flaring neck, framed by striking square spiral handles. These geometric “ears” echo traditional motifs found in Japanese temple objects and lend the piece its distinctive architectural character.

Originally associated with Buddhist temple vessels and later used in ikebana flower arrangements, the vase embodies a quiet balance between ritual object and refined decorative form. The beautifully aged bronze has developed a deep, atmospheric patina over time, with subtle variations in tone that give the surface remarkable depth.

Both sculptural and functional, it makes a striking standalone object or vessel for a single branch or minimal floral arrangement.
