A captivating pair of vintage cast iron sculptures by Swedish artist Marita Norin (1943–2021), these weighty and sculptural figures embody a bold yet serene presence. With their distinctive stylized forms and expressive simplicity, they effortlessly blur the line between fine art and functional design.
Each piece is solid and substantial—the female figure weighing approximately 3.5 kg and the male 3.7 kg—making them not just visually compelling but also highly practical as bookends or standalone objets d’art. The matte black iron finish enhances their sculptural quality, emphasizing their strong, almost totemic silhouettes.
Both sculptures are signed ‘MN’, a mark of Norin’s artistry and craftsmanship. As a sculptor known for her ability to distill the human form into striking, elemental shapes, her work holds a timeless, almost archaeological allure—at once modern and deeply rooted in artistic tradition.
Dimensions:
Female: Approx. 19 cm (H) x 13.5 cm (W)
Male: Approx. 20.5 cm (H) x 13 cm (W)
Condition: Wear consistent with age, with some marks, scratches, and areas of discoloration, though overall in very good vintage condition.
