A sensitively rendered nude study by Swedish artist Eira Thelander (1908–1978). The seated figure is depicted in profile beside a dressing table, her softly modelled form set against an atmospheric interior. Thelander works with broad, expressive brushstrokes and a muted palette of dusty pink, ochre, blue-grey and green, giving the composition a particularly intimate quality.
The restrained treatment of the figure and surroundings lends the work a distinctly modern character, while the warm flesh tones and flashes of colour bring a subtle vibrancy to the otherwise subdued palette.
